Short-Term and Long-Term Disability benefits are often provided by your employer as optional insurance in case you become disabled and cannot do your job. If your employer does not provide this benefit, you can buy your own private Disability Insurance. Often times, private Disability Insurance plans provide you with a higher disability pay than Social Security, and sometimes have an easier standard for proving disability. As with any disability matter, the benefit provider may still contest your eligibility under the insurance policy. If this has happened to you, or if you have questions about an existing private disability policy you already own, contact our office.
